Dieting has led many people to be frustrated and feel shame about eating and their bodies. Julie is dedicated to empowering people to ditch dieting and develop a positive relationship to food, their body, and authentic health. Both her podcast, Shame Free Eating, and her book, Ditch the Diet: How to Reclaim your Health and Enjoy Food, encapsulate this passion and are resources for those searching for answers to their struggles with eating. In her practice, Julie provides nutrition counseling with an intuitive eating approach that nurtures the body, mind and spirit while also addressing specific health care needs. Her framework and approach is built on education, research, and over 23 years of working with clients in settings ranging from university wellness, adjunct professor, hospital outpatient counseling, and private practice. She is also a dynamic speaker presenting nutrition topics to all audiences — from local forums to state and national conferences. Julie is a graduate of Virginia Tech (‘95) and Illinois State University (‘99), and is married with three children, two cats, and one dog. She loves sharing time with friends and family, reading, running, yoga, coffee, eating out, and pretty paper products.
