I became a dietitian to give people something they needed. I always liked learning and talking about food and nutrition and figured that would be a positive thing to share with others. Plus, I wanted to sort through all the information and misinformation out “there” by studying the science. Through my professional AND personal experience, I learned (and continue to learn) that while eating and enjoying nutritious foods is important, all foods can fit. More so, nutrition is one of many pieces to the wellness puzzle.
Approach to care
I take an objective approach to food with a focus on mindful eating. From a place of curiosity and care, I hope to help you identify how food makes you feel - both how it fuels and satisfies you. I believe that food and eating impacts us mind, body and spirit. As a dietitian, I understand the nutrient density of foods plays a role in health promotion. That being said, I believe that eating food simply for the joy of it and limiting stress around eating can be just as important. My intention is to provide you with straightforward yet gentle nutrition information as well as applicable tools and skills to help you eat and live well for the long term.
What to expect in your first session with Miriam?
In this session we will cover your reasons for seeking nutrition care and review any pertinent health related history as well as lifestyle factors that will play into our plan. You'll come away with some initial goals that are personal to you and your needs and that we will evaluate and adjust as you progress.
