Does my insurance cover nutrition counseling?

94% of Nourish patients pay $0 out of pocket. Enter your insurance details below to see if you're covered.

In-network insurance

Nourish is in-network with 5 major insurance companies: Blue Cross Blue Shield (including Anthem), United Healthcare, Aetna, Cigna, and Medicare. Medicare is in-network but only covered for patients diagnosed with diabetes or chronic kidney disease (any other diagnoses do not qualify for coverage). For in-network patients, we work directly with your insurance company to ensure coverage.

94% of patients pay $0 out of pocket.

In rare cases, there are costs associated with using insurance, such as a small copay or coinsurance. In these cases, you will be responsible for those fees.

It is risk-free to try Nourish: if your insurance denies payment or your claim goes to a deductible that you don’t wish to contribute to, we will not charge you for any sessions that have already occurred. We will reach out to you personally to determine payment options for future sessions if you wish to continue working with your dietitian.

Out-of-network insurance

Initial assessment: $180
Follow-Up: $145

Note: Rates increase for family work and for longer sessions.

We provide private-pay services to those patients with out-of-network insurance. If you're interested in this service, please get in touch and tell us about yourself so we can provide you with the most accurate information.

If you are out-of-network, we can offer you a superbill that you can submit to your insurance in hopes of getting reimbursed. It is your responsibility to inquire with your insurance company regarding these benefits and submit superbills (we can provide you with instructions when you schedule). The session fee must be paid at the time of service.

You can pay check or card. A card is required to be on file. We don’t offer a traditional “sliding scale” but we do keep several spots available for those who need help financially. Contact us to receive more information.

Frequently asked questions

Which insurance companies does Nourish work with?

We currently work with Medicare, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, United Healthcare, and Aetna. We do not accept Medicaid at this time. Please reach out if you'd like us to add coverage for another network!

Will my insurance cover my sessions? How much does an appointment cost?

Nourish is currently in-network with 5 major insurance companies: Blue Cross Blue Shield/Anthem, United Healthcare, Aetna, Cigna, and Medicare. For in-network patients, we work with your insurance company to ensure coverage.

94% of in-network patients pay $0 out of pocket. Use our insurance coverage calculator to verify your coverage and learn more about how we work with your insurance company.

In rare cases, there are costs associated with using insurance such as a small co-pay. In these cases, you will be responsible for those fees.

It is risk-free to try Nourish: if your insurance denies payment or your claim goes to a deductible that you don’t wish to contribute to, we will not charge you for any sessions that have already occurred. We will reach out to you personally to determine payment options for future sessions if you wish to continue working with your dietitian.‍

We also offer private pay services if your insurance does not cover sessions for $145 per session. Contact us today at support@usenourish.com if you have any other questions.

Do you accept Medicare?

Yes! We accept Medicare. However, Medicare will only cover nutrition therapy if you have a diagnosis of diabetes or chronic kidney disease. Unfortunately, any other conditions (including pre-diabetes) are not covered by Medicare.

Are there any other fees to use Nourish?

No! 94% of our patients have sessions fully covered by insurance, at $0 out of pocket cost to them. There are no other hidden or surprise fees with Nourish. That said, you will be responsible for any copay or co-insurance payments determined by your insurance policy agreement.

Can I use my HSA/FSA to pay for services?

Yes! You are welcome to pay using HSA or FSA funds.

What if my insurance changes?

Nourish patients can update their insurance in the Nourish patient portal by visiting https://app.usenourish.com/#/portal and adding a new insurance policy in the “Insurance” tab.

Why do you require a credit card to sign up?

We require a credit card to be kept on file for all clients primarily to enforce our no-show fee, which is billed at the same rate as a cash pay session ($145). You will only be responsible for a no-show fee if you fail to show up to your appointment or cancel it within 24 hours of the appointment start time.

If we are in-network with your insurance provider, we will work hard to ensure coverage for your services. A small percentage of our clients incur some out-of-pocket costs from their insurance, such as copayments or deductibles. In those instances, you will be responsible for those fees. However, we will not charge you without advanced notice, and will work with you and the insurance provider to minimize costs when possible.

Please feel free to reach out with any additional questions.
