Success stories

Elizabeth is a fabulous, knowledgeable, down to earth person! I was so unsure of how I'd feel after my first appointment, but Nourish's ability to match you with your ideal nutritionist for your specific needs is so accurate it was an almost perfect pairing!

It is not like any other place I have tried before. I feel seen and heard by my dietician. I am not just a number on the scale. My dietician takes into consideration so many things that are not even related to my weight which I had never even realized myself were contributing to my health. She has been kind and supportive. I couldn't be happier.

My daughter Julia had been going to a psychiatrist to deal with her disordered eating, and the topic of getting a dietitian had come up. I was completely desperate to help her in any way I could, so I jumped at the opportunity and was connected with Nourish by her psychiatrist.
Immediately, the dietitian connected on a teenage-level with my daughter, which I think has been crucial for my daughter’s recovery. She was incredibly kind and really engaged with Julia, which I know can be difficult at times with teenagers. Our dietitian went above and beyond to 'meet Julia where she was at’ - going so far as to adjust appointment times to align with Julia's school schedule, and being flexible with any goals or strategies she set with Julia so that Julia could accomplish them while still getting to experience a ‘normal’ teenage life. I could finally start to see Julia turn a corner, and seeing the hope in her eyes finally return was incredible for me to watch.
I have appreciated how much I am kept in the loop by Julia's dietitian. We finally have someone helping both of us deal with the nutrition challenges that she is constantly facing. My daughter went from eating basically nothing to having 3 meals and 4 snacks a day consistently. So much of her pain is gone, and that is all thanks to our dietitian. I highly recommend anyone looking for a guiding and supportive figure in their child’s life get a Nourish dietitian.

The Nourish Program
Finding a dietitian that accepts UnitedHealthcare
Depending on your UnitedHealthcare plan, you may need a referral from your doctor to meet with a registered dietitian. Once you have a referral, you can search for an in-network dietitian through your UHC health plan account.
UnitedHealthcare classifies medical nutrition therapy (MNT) as a preventative service covered under the Affordable Care Act. MNT is evidence-based nutrition care a registered dietitian provides to help manage or prevent different medical conditions.
Though coverage varies by plan, some examples of conditions qualifying for nutrition care under UnitedHealthcare (UHC) include prediabetes, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, weight management, and pregnancy.
If your plan covers nutrition services, be sure to select a registered dietitian (RD) or registered dietitian nutritionist (RDN). UnitedHealthcare typically doesn’t cover nutrition appointments with non-credentialed providers, like nutritionists.
Video visit coverage with UnitedHealthcare
Many UnitedHealthcare (UHC) insurance plans cover virtual visits with a registered dietitian. These plans typically cover virtual visits similar to in-person office visits. You can log in to your health plan account to search for a local provider (a healthcare professional providing care in your state) who offers virtual care.
A virtual visit, also known as telehealth, occurs in real-time and can be conducted via video, phone, or email. Nutrition services are classified by UHC as “virtual specialty care,” in the same category as neurologists and orthopedic doctors.
At Nourish, our video-based care by registered dietitians makes it convenient to get high-quality and evidence-based nutrition counseling from the comfort of your home or on the go. Nourish is in-network with UnitedHealthcare, with 95% of our patients paying $0 out of pocket when using insurance.
Understanding UnitedHealthcare Cost and Coverage
To book a virtual appointment with a registered dietitian who is in-network with UnitedHealthcare, ensure the provider is licensed to work with people in your state. Licensure laws vary by state, and many dietitians cannot provide virtual care to people outside the state they practice in.
The cost of an appointment with a dietitian depends on your specific UnitedHealthcare (UHC) plan. Visits classified under preventative care are typically covered at 100% when working with an in-network provider. However, some plans may require a copayment or coinsurance depending on the diagnosis you are seeking nutrition care for.
In rare cases, your UHC plan may not cover online dietitian services. Nationwide, an initial appointment with a registered dietitian costs between $100 and $200 out-of-pocket. The primary factors influencing rates are the practice location and special certifications or specializations.
